Much of the imported wine boom in China has been confined to the key cities of Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou in recent years. The exciting news is that provinces in Central China are beginning to experience the same growth in wine consumption! Chongqing, a major city in Sichuan and this river port’s imported wine consumption has increased by 30% in each of the passing three years since it has introduced the first bonded area in inland China. Imported wine consumption in Chongching has now reached RMB200 million (USD32m).
