Australia exceeded their 2012 medal haul at this year’s competition winning a total of 219 medals including an impressive 168 Double Gold and Gold Medals. France continued its success scooping 97 medals including 51 Double Gold and Gold Medals. Italy, Spain, Chile and Portugal are snapping at each other’s’ heals with each scooping 44, 38, 42 and 50 Double Gold and Gold Medals respectively.
Other notable winning countries include South Africa with 27 Medals, Argentina with 34 Medals, Germany with 22 Medals and New Zealand with 18 Medals. Kelly England, CWSA President comments “The demand for this year’s CWSA Best Value competition vastly exceeded our expectations with more than twice the number of participating wines and spirits. The CWSA has again been very strict in awarding only the top 10% of wines with Gold Medals. The results show the extraordinary quality of wines gunning for success in the booming China market. Our organization is now focused on equipping all the winners’ with the winners’ packs to help them promote their awards and receive the recognition they so deserve.”
