The jury of the Chinese competition includes the 100 best buyers of wines and spirits. Among them are sommeliers, importers, distributors, as well as retailers who together sell over 90 million bottles of alcohol a year.
Tastings are carried out blindly, and producers from over 55 countries around the world apply for the competition. It is worth noting that China is currently the largest consumer of spirits in the world, including vodka, whiskey and brandy. The organizers of the China Wine & Spirits Awards estimate that in this category the demand for the Middle Kingdom will reach by as much as 24 billion dollars in value by 2021.
