‘China is an emerging market and is a key focus for wine producers now, says Paul Brajkovich, from Kumeu River Wines. ‘Everybody in the wine industry is looking at China because when you have a population of that size starting to get an interest in wine, it’s a big opportunity’. Following New Zealand’s success in the China Wine Awards 2012, entries are now pouring in from New Zealands finest. Babich Wines, founded in 1916 by Josip Babich and now celebrating 95 years of winemaking, have been prompt to enter the China Best Value Wine Awards 2013. The Hay Paddock, Tohu and Yealands Estate Wines were some of the shining stars of the China Wine Awards 2012, so it will be interesting to see New Zealand’s position in the coming competition.
