Wakefield Wines Celebrates Unique Relationship With China

Renowned Australian producer Wakefield Wines is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year and last month the winery launched their Wakefield The Legacy limited collection. The business was founded in 1969 by Bill Taylor who had scoured Australia for the best site to start producing his own wine.

In the early years Australian wines were hardly known on the export market, but over the years the winery has gained recognition across the globe and now has a strong presence in China, Europe and the USA.

Out of recognition of the winery’s special relationship with China, Wakefield’s special The Legacy wine was launched in China in June of this year. This remarkable Cabernet Sauvignon single varietal wine is limited to just 1080 bottles.“Wakefield The Legacy is the culmination of 50 years. This is a great tribute to the past and to the future,” commented Wakefield’s winemaker and managing director, Mitchell Taylor.

The winery’s other wines have also enjoyed a warm welcome in the Chinese market, with the  Wakefield Estate-Shiraz 2017 winning a Gold Medal at the previous CWSA,  judged by 100 of China’s most influential Buyers.
